About

A place for me to post the stuff I love. A place to go a little more in depth than I feel is appropriate on the ‘Spill. To post stuff that maybe isn’t always about music.

You’re all welcome and anyone who wants to join in only needs to send an e-mail to makinavajarr@gmail.com for an invite. The more, the merrier.

And what about me? A middle aged English teacher in Madrid with a love of music that flies in the face of my absolute lack of musical talent.

An important footnote:

Any music posted here is for sampling purposes and is kept up for a short time only. If you would like me to remove anything please contact me at the above email address.

My website has not been updated in years.
Maki, your Spanish musical taste is much broader than mine, mine’s limited to just a few from Spain, most are from S. America and are mainly women or are Argentinean or Brazilian. Lots of Tango and a fair bit of Brazilian. The women vocalists include: Emma Milan, Anastacia Azevedo, Monica Ramos, Toto la Momposina, Susana Baca, Flora Purim, Tania Libertad, Victoria Rodrigues, Mariano Montalvo, Maria Teresa and Monica Salmaso, some of them are Brazillian. There’s also a fair number of Cuban and Haitan. A few odd ones; Miguel Poveda, Cuarteto Cedron, Carlos Maza, and Los Activos. Plus a couple of compilations,

    Hi GF

Thanks for dropping in! My tastes are broad or undefined (depending on your point of view).

You mention a lot of fine artists there and I hope to be able to work some of them into future posts.

    Thanks again for your interest.

    Mr and Mrs Maki!!!

I have been exploring your site and it is great to have all the flamenco posts in one place and easy to follow!!!

You really MUST write the book!!!

When you see posts like this in a series I think it really flows and makes sense.

I have been ill today and in bed most of the day and I have been reading the series again and listening on my laptop and I really really really love this series ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I admire so much your and Mrs Maki knowledge and love for flamenco and I really believe you transmit that love wonderfully!!!

I can only imagine how wonderful it must be to live and breath this music!!!

Thank you so much for sharing this with us!!!

    Love you both so much

    Sakura xxx

I am writing a novel with a copla setting and have scoured the Internet for information on the genre, but it is very diffuse. Does there exist a history of copla in book form that you know of?
